[Cotswolds Family Photographer]

For this shoot we decided to split the session into two parts, one being at home where we were snug and quite comfortable and concentrated on getting some nice portraits. And the other being out on location at Wroxton College where we had to wrap up warm against the elements for more environmental photos.

We had a really good time in the beautiful snow covered grounds of the college. We were playing, running around and even threw a few snow balls! Afterwards we had a lovely lunch in front of the fire at a local pub to defrost a little bit.

The original reason that prompted the Hamilton family to book this session at this time, was that Aaron was nearly six, and was getting to the point where his teeth were starting to become a little bit wobbly. They wanted to have some photos of where he still had his little teeth and before he reached the milestone of getting his big teeth. At this point they start looking that little bit more grown up, and their mouth (and face structure) changes forever.

It was all really good timing as well, because when I turned up on the day, he was showing me just how wobbly his tooth were and was bragging that he would be able to have it out soon after the shoot

So whatever the reason, prompt or milestone, make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to capture that special time, by calling me… pronto

There are thousands of photo’s on my computer, and no I’m not talking about my client’s/work photos, I’m talking about my family’s photos. Snapshots of the children with the little point and click camera, ‘proper’ photos with my big camera and photos taken with the mobile phone etc.

My family (in South Africa and Oz) cry out for photos of my children and my husband regularly chastises me for not ‘doing’ anything with our photos! He says that for all my clients I produce beautiful albums, canvasses and frames, but of our children there are 2 little photos in our house where Alyssa was 14 months and Ryan was 11 months old, (just so you know, they are now 6 and 4 respectively). And don’t get me wrong, I feel guilty about it and I know that it’s a crying shame, but life takes over and it keeps dropping to the bottom of the To Do List.

This is a story I hear from soooo many of my clients as well. Since the digital age, everybody takes loads of photos, but only the really organised amongst us ever prints them off regularly or ‘does’ anything with them.

So a couple of days ago I went looking for a specific photo that I wanted to use for my daughter’s show and tell at school and I got caught up looking at some of the photos I’ve got in our family folders, and it struck me that there are some real gems in there that has never seen the light of day. Now in my case, I want to work on them and make them look perfect before anybody ever sees them… and therein lies my downfall!! Family photos of everyday events and trips, shouldn’t have to be perfect (from a photographer’s eye), they only need to be used, shared and enjoyed. So I’ve decided that more of my photos are going to see the light of day. I’m going to start ‘doing’ something with them, and I’m also going to share some of them on this blog from time to time.

So watch this space and I’ll let you know how I get on.

They had a beautiful day at Danesfield House Hotel and their red colour scheme was very striking!

They decided to have the inside of the card left blank (on the right) for a personal hand written message, and they only had their names and wedding date printed on the left hand side.

Each category has a shortlist of 20 blogs, which will be cut down to 8 finalists after the voting ends on the 30th April 2012. After that a panel of judges will then judge each category and a winner will be announced at the BritMums Live! conference in London.

This is such an amazing honour to even be shortlisted and I would like to personally thank each and every one of my readers that nominated me for this award! Without you I wouldn’t have this blog!

I met loads of beautiful brides that were so excited about their upcoming weddings and had some fantastic conversations about their plans and ideas for what is going to be very inspiring wedding days!

I felt so inspired by a couple of stands at yesterday’s show that I decided to cast a spotlight on three of my fellow exhibitors at the fair.

First up is Karen from Passion for Flowers. The table layout yesterday was just a-maaai-zzing!! I just begged to be picked up and put down somewhere in a meadow or under a weeping willow tree next to a river. That table alone made me want to do a styled shoot, so it’s gone on my To Do list for doing something about that later in the year!

Next up is the sister company to Passion for Flowers, The Wedding of my Dreams with the delightful Gemma.

The items from this site makes me want to get married again. It is a true one stop shop for all things beautiful and DIY for your wedding day. In fact I would like more than half the items on this website for my own home, so it’s not just for weddings!

And last but not least is the super talented Tracy from Cotton & Crumbs. This stand was just to die for!! In fact I think most of it was just too pretty to even contemplate eating! Tracy also now runs workshops, and I’m personally going to book myself onto the next one.. pronto!

(This is where I went a bit Hipstamatic crazy, but I love it!)

The couple had an intimate wedding with close friends and family and that ensured a lovely atmosphere throughout the day. There were lots of laughing and teasing going on, and everybody had a great time.

Sara’s red colour scheme was very striking and the The Versailles Suite looked absolutely stunning.

I felt honoured to be apart of Sara & Seb’s wedding day, and I think you’ll agree with me in wishing them all the best for their married life together!
